This Privacy Policy describes how LaTeX & BibTeX Tools ("we", "our", or "the App") handles your data.
1. No Personal Data Collection
LaTeX & BibTeX Tools is designed from the ground up to respect your privacy. We do not collect, store, or share your personal data, documents, or usage statistics.
2. Local Processing and Optional Journal Lookup
All processing, including figure organization, renaming, and BibTeX formatting, happens entirely locally on your macOS device. The App does not require an internet connection to process your files.
- Your `.tex` files never leave your computer.
- Your `.bib` bibliographies never leave your computer.
- Your images and figures never leave your computer.
- Online journal lookup is disabled by default. When enabled, the app sends only journal names not recognized locally to the journal lookup service. Citations, authors, titles, PDFs, and bibliography files are never uploaded. This supports abbreviation and full-title expansion through the explicit formatting command.
- Successful lookup results are cached locally on your Mac. If the service is unavailable, the App leaves the original journal name unchanged.
3. Third-Party Services
The optional journal lookup is hosted using Cloudflare infrastructure and is contacted only when you enable that feature and the built-in journal list has no match. The App does not include third-party analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
4. Changes to This Policy
If we change this privacy policy in the future, we will update this page. Our core commitment remains that manuscripts, bibliographies, figures, and other document contents are processed locally.
